Anyway, I'm truly sorry I missed you, but hearing your lovely voice on the phone was almost enough to make up for it. Though I have to ask, none of you? Are there more than one?"

"Professor Next?" Z asked after she grabbed the phone. "I'm fine, really, don't worry about me." She was lying, of course, but pretty convincingly. "It was just a momentary thing."

"I'm sure," Z said. "I'm feeling much better now." Thankfully Thursday couldn't see that Z was hiding under her covers as she said this.
