Room 317, Tuesday Morning/Afternoon

After kicking Alec out (nicely, because mmm) Z took a quick shower and got ready for the day, wearing civvies because, well, she wanted to. Then she flopped down on the spare bed to read more of The Jade Flower. The door was propped open.

Jack stood in the doorway for awhile, leaning against the frame, studying Z. She looked very relaxed. "What are you reading?"

"Hi, Jack," Z practically purred. She showed him the cover of her book, where a pirate that looked suspiciously like Fabio was holding a swooning Asian woman, whose black clothing was rather low-cut. "The pirate and the ninja are trying to kill each other, but I skipped ahead and they have sex in chapter twenty-three."

"Much to the ninja's woe Caribbean, actually. How the ninja got there, not really sure." Z frowned at her book. "It's very strange."

"There was ninjas in the Carribean? I don't know much about history, but I'm pretty sure that's not right." Jack walked across the room and dropped to sit on the bed, leaning against the wall and stretching his legs out next to her. "It does sounds strange. But is it entertaining?"

"Yeah, I got cha--skipped out halfway through that unit in history class, but I'm pretty sure this is nothing like historically accurate. But at least it's funny."

She shrugged. "Other kids. Remember how I told you about how I'm a freak? 'Different' isn't too popular on twenty-first century Earth. At least, not most places. So far no one here seems to care."

"No. I distinctly remember you telling me about something you can do that no one else in the world can. Which doesn't make you a freak. It makes you unique." Jack sighed. "But people can be pretty damn stupid when it comes to someone who doesn't fit their ideas of what's acceptable - and trust me, it's not just the twenty-first century - and kids tend to be the worst." He smiled down at her. "Though you're right, the people here are pretty non-judgemental."
