Room 317, Tuesday Morning/Afternoon

After kicking Alec out (nicely, because mmm) Z took a quick shower and got ready for the day, wearing civvies because, well, she wanted to. Then she flopped down on the spare bed to read more of The Jade Flower. The door was propped open.

She shrugged. "Other kids. Remember how I told you about how I'm a freak? 'Different' isn't too popular on twenty-first century Earth. At least, not most places. So far no one here seems to care."

"No. I distinctly remember you telling me about something you can do that no one else in the world can. Which doesn't make you a freak. It makes you unique." Jack sighed. "But people can be pretty damn stupid when it comes to someone who doesn't fit their ideas of what's acceptable - and trust me, it's not just the twenty-first century - and kids tend to be the worst." He smiled down at her. "Though you're right, the people here are pretty non-judgemental."

"Well," Z said brightly, "Now that I've gotten my daily quotient of feeling sorry for myself out of the way, I believe there was supposed to be sugar?"

"There is absolutely going to be sugar. And caffeine." Jack hopped off the bed, and held his hand out to her. "May I escort you to the bakery, oh wonderous Z?"

"Ooh, sugar and caffeine. Two of my favorites." Z hopped off the bed and took Jack's hand. "You most certainly may, kind sir."
