In room 317, Z was packing up her stuff and wishing Cruger had been more specific. Did she need to bring all her stuff? Just a few uniforms? How long were they going to be gone, anyway?
Z said, "Aw," and patted Artoo's dome, then had a bright idea and set the weetiny penguin on top of him. "He can keep you company until I come back. Or he disappears. You know, whichever comes first."
Z winced. "Sorry, Artoo. Three," she told Luke. "This Sky guy, Sydney Drew whose music I'm sure I've subjected you to a time or three, and someone else we're supposed to meet there. Commander Cruger wasn't long on details."

The puppet show was nowhere on that list.
Luke smiled. "He's going to miss you."

The penguin didn't seem nearly as excited by the ride.
"Us?" Luke repeated. "Who else is going?"

"Wish him luck for me, then," Luke said with a polite smile.
He was trying, dammit.

Artoo made a disgusted little gurgle.
Luke burst out laughing. "That'll teach you to go so fast," he said.
"How many more teammates will you have?" he asked as he reached for a rag to clean Artoo off with.

Of course, this was coming from a Skywalker, so he was a bit biased.
