Room 317, Saturday Evening

The door to 317 stood open. Inside, its lone occupant was flipping through magazines and trying, as per usual these days, to ignore the empty side of the room.

It was lonely without Luke and Artoo. Z would be glad to be distracted.

"Yeah, that'll mess up the delivery people, I guess," Z said, and ripped into the package without further commentary because while she was used to her birthday passing without comment, presents were still nice!

"Oh, wow!" Z immediately put the jacket on to model. "How do I look?" Then she realized she was being rude and added, "Hi, RIC!"

Bridge grins and gives her a thumbs up.

RIC just meows at her.

"I think a meow is a positive review," Bridge interprets. Or tries to, anyway.

"I guess it's like a cat call," Z said. "Only, you know. From a dog. A robot dog." She frowned. "It's funny, I could always more-or-less understand Artoo, but RIC, I'm lost."

"I think he likes it that way," Bridge confides.

"Your robot dog is so weird," Z told him. Just in case he didn't know.

"Technically he's not mine, he's SPD's," Bridge points out. "Of course, there's a *reason* they didn't kick up much of a fuss when they found out he was here with me..."

"Yeah, no, that would mean he's partially mine, too," Z pointed out. "And I don't think that's accurate."

"Well, he is supposed to help out the entire team, of which you are a part..." Bridge replies.

"Yeah, but he lives in your room," Z pointed out.

"More than I do these days," Bridge admits, one hand going up to touch the ring on the chain around his neck for approximately the eleven-billionth time that day.

"Yeah, well, you've got the shiny boyfriend and stuff," Z pointed out.

"Yeah, about that..."

"Oh, crap, you guys didn't break up, did you?" Z asked. "I'm going to lose so much money on the pool. I mean--never mind what I mean. You didn't break up, right?"

"Well, no, we didn't break up so much as go in the opposite direction in the sense that involves the giving of rings and the changing of names," Bridge babbles.

Z still lost a ton of money in the pool, but, "That's great! Congratulations, dude!"

"Yeah?" Bridge says. "I mean, I know it's soon, really soon, what with the fact that I only just graduated high school last month and all. But I *want* this, and he does too, or he wouldn't have *asked*, and just... yeah."

"Yeah! I'm really happy for you. Uh. How is this gonna work, because, you're like three here." Inquiring minds had to know.

"Well, we haven't even done the date-setting thing yet, he just asked yesterday, and you're the first person I've told... it might not even happen til after we're back in Newtech City, I don't know," Bridge shrugs.

"Wow, really?" Z asked. "I'm flattered. So how are you going to tell your parents you're going to be a teen bride?"

"I'm not going to be a *bride*!" Bridge protests. "And I'm not sure. All I know is, I'm going to bring it up at a time when my mom isn't around any kitchen utensils."

"If you say so," Z said, leaning over to pat Bridge's arm. "Do it over the phone. She can't stab anyone over the phone." Z's lack of experience with parents might be showing.

"Well I'm pretty sure she wouldn't on *purpose*," Bridge says, frowning.
