"That was great," Z said as she and Jamie approached the door to room 317 after a Homecoming dance of punch and dancing and two-person conga. "I had a great time. And look, my toes are still intact," she added, gesturing to her boots.

"You prepped very well for tonight," Jamie said. "You look very beautiful. Did youhave fun?"

"Are you kidding? I had a great time!" Z told him.

"Great!" Jamie said looking maybe a tad bit nervous as he broached the next part of the conversation. "So... maybe we can do it again. Not homecoming really but... like food. Or a movie. Or something."

"I'd like that," Z said. "I'd like that a lot." She gestured to her door and said, "So, um, this is my stop."

"That it is," Jamie said looking pretty cheerful now. "So have I filled my quota of calling you pretty today? Or am I still going to get a 3am phone call?"

Z pretended to think about it. "I might let you off the hook this once."

Jamie actually looked a little disappointed.

"Well then," Jamie said. "I'll just have to get a good night's sleep. Or something."

He hesitated a second or two before adding: "But you know... there is one thing we could do to bump this excellent date to the amazing category."

"Yeah?" Z asked kind of hopefully. "What would that be?"

"Well... I was thinking something like this," Jamie said leaning over to kiss Z on the lips.

Mmm, kissing. Kissing was good. Z liked kissing. After a few moments she pulled back and said, "You were right."

"Thank you for a wonderful evening," Jamie said trying to keep from smiling so much.

"Thank you," Z said. "Yes. Thank you." She opened her door and added, "And good night."
